Write a short paragraph describing who you are:Hello! My Name is Karina B Mudafort. I am a 26 year-old Puerto Rican, Lebanese American ! I am born an raised on the beaches of Bradenton, Florida. I am from a family of six, making me one of four girls! I am the youngest, and just as fierce as my other three older sisters. I lived in Saint Petersburg, Florida, on the edge of Gulfport with my partner of three years . I also am a huge animal lover. I am a dog mom of two, two cats, and a couple chickens! I am an artist, model, fashion designer, engineer, auto mechanic, gardener, carpenter, animal mom, blessed and grateful !
What makes you a powerwoman?I am a power house, like every women, in more ways then one. I never though I would ever even make it to age 26, and here I stand , and keep on! I survived open heart surgery at age three, with out this I would have passed before 18. I come from a beautiful fierce family, but also a very broken and abusive household. I am the youngest so the only way out for me was to work hard, and get into college by any means possible! My home life was theatrical to say the least. My mother bipolar / personality disorder. Episodes were often and maintaining normalcy especially when you are the only biracial kid in catholic school until third grade was tough to say the least! I did anything and everything to fill my time, mostly in sports. Eight years in gymnastics, track, pole vaulting, volleyball weightlifting, and dance. When I became old enough to work, oh did I! I worked two three jobs since the age of 16. I helped pay the bills at home, bought two cars for my sister, and counted down the years until I was out. I applied to an unreal amount of scholarships, telling my story and with the fierce support of a guidance councilor with disbelief, I got in!!! My future was now for me to decide. I am so beyond grateful for my mother and father and the woman they raised me to be. My mother taught me how to do everything and anything. My mother is the true warrior in this story, not me. I am the woman I am today because of them and I wouldn't have it any other way! I never quit, and I refuse to now!
What is your career?Like every thing in life career evolves. I am now refocusing myself entirely to becoming a thriving artist. I am currently finishing my Bachelors of Fine Arts at University of South Florida. I have 10 years of experience in the hospitality and customer service industry. I absolutely love providing memorable experiences/ memories, and live my life by the motto "Live in the light".I try to be a light to everyones world I enter. I have enjoyed creating memories for the past 10 years with my guests in restaurants across Florida including Orlando, Bradenton, Sarasota and St. Petersburg. I also have been cooking for 10 years, and have extensive knowledge of food, beer, and wine I get things done and am not easily defeated, if there is a way I will roll up my sleeves and find it. I have also managed a luxury car dealer auto reconditioning mechanic shop. I wore many hats at this job at 22. I was shop foreman, parts manager, account manager. I had to keep a happy, and efficient team, I built/ engineered a system for the incoming auction cars and managed multiple contractors, so attention to detail is a strong point of mine.
What is your education?I attended University of Central Florida for two years for mechanical engineering. I then attended an Universal Technical Institute for Auto Mechanics. I had to take a short break from school until the age of 24 to finish my degree, it is very tough for kids in tough home situations get funding. I am now finishing my degree!! Like I said I do not give up. I am St Petersburg College transferring to University of South Florida for my bachelors of fine arts.

What is your favorite thing to do?Create, communicate, and be of service.
Where is your favorite place to be?The beach, and home.
Do you consider yourself a party person or a home person, why?In my earlier twenties, I would defiantly say I was more of a party person, I used to plan all our high school parties and outings too! But these days I am more of a home body, and have found a balance of both worlds. I am a latin girl to my blood and when music is playing, you can bet I am dancing! Whether it be at home when I am cleaning or out once or twice a week and a good band come on. I have most defiantly enjoy my peaceful and loving home environment I have created, since I really did not have that growing up. My home is my zen den. Part of my life's work is to create a loving home where my kids want to come home and feel safe. So I find such joy in creating that home environment, that holds your heart like no where else. I love mowing my lawn, picking weeds, building my chicken coop, maintaining my house, painting pieces specific to our home, and making sure home base is stable. I consider this as part of the foundation of success. Throw on some latin music while I clean, and it will be the best party you have ever been too!
Why did you enter the competition? To be honest I have never been in a Pageant, and never truly considered it until I saw the format of this. This really shows you the woman behind the crown , and what she is truly capable of. I love that you are closing to celebrate women of character and diction, and showing the women behind the glamour. Glamour is important, I am a queen after all, as are all women. My pseudonym is Queen Kay, I believe all women to be queens. I would love to be a part of these strong women and inspire young girls, much like myself watching Miss Universe in front of the tv set with my plastic crown as long as I can remember really. These role models are needed, and I am ready to stand by that!
Who is your hero and why?Selena Quintanilla! As long as I can remember, I honestly was not obsessed with any female artist in my youth. I was not obsessed with Selena, I respected her. Her family too was rough around the edges and being not latin or not "white" enough in America was very much a struggle, I would very much say I am an americanized Puerto Rican. I was the only latin/brown kid in catholic school until third grade. But when you grow up in a latin household, it does not matter where you are. Selenas story helped motivate me to get out of my struggle as a youth, that I was not a bad kid. That love that did not hurt was real, and my dreams and spirit would shine no matter what.
What color relates to your personality and why?Blue. It is my spirit color, I feel it! I am loud, I over communicate, I love to sing, and am not afraid to voice my opinions. Blue is the throat chakra, communication etc. Blue is it for me.
What are you freakishly addicted to?Redbull! Its such a bad addiction that needs fixing, but we all have our vices right.
What is your greatest strength?I have a big heart, I really just want to be of service. I want no one in the world to feel unnecessary pain, some lessons are specific to you and need learning. But unnecessary pain is reckless, and well unnecessary.
Most scary animal or insect?I love animals. Unless they are attacking me or it is an alien from a sci-fi movie, I can not think of one. On the other hand I HATE ALL BUGS!
